Owner and Senior Physiotherapist

Owner and Senior Physiotherapist, Michelle North has over 10 years of physiotherapy experience both in the United States and in New Zealand. After completing 4 years on a tennis scholarship she went on to graduate with her Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2002. Michelle worked in California, North Carolina and Oregon before returning home to Christchurch in 2009.

Her physiotherapy specialties include:

  • General and sports physiotherapy with a special interest in tennis related injuries in both adults and children
  • Pre and post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Spinal physiotherapy
  • Vestibular,vertigo and balance disorders especially BPPV
  • Strapping
  • Postural problems in both children and adults

Outside of work she is an avid tennis player and is a member of Hagley Park’s premier women’s tennis team. She also enjoys staying active, travelling, and spending time with friends and family.

Lisa McKinnon, Physiotherapist

With over 20 years of experience, Lisa brings a wealth of experience to the team at Elite Physiotherapy. She has previously worked in musculo-skeletal clinics specialising in sports related injuries both here in New Zealand and overseas.


She has a hands on physiotherapy approach and her specialties include:

  • Special interest in shoulder, hip and knee injuries
  • Rehabilitation for dancers
  • Massage
  • Spinal Physiotherapy and manipulation especially cervical (neck) and lumbar spine (low back) injuries.
  • Exercise prescription especially for the higher level athletes (both children and adults)
  • Acupuncture

Lisa enjoys treating all clients varying from the elite athlete/performer to the weekend warrior.

Rochelle Wardle, Physiotherapist

Senior Physiotherapist

Rochelle has almost 20 years of physiotherapy experience. She has recently worked as a Women's Health Physiotherapist treating antenatal and postnatal women and educating patients with pelvic floor dysfunction. Rochelle has previously worked in private practices in the UK and New Zealand treating a diversity of musculoskeletal injuries. She has worked at school based clinics, treating youth with a range of sporting injuries. She has trained in Polestar Pilates and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
Rochelle's physiotherapy interests include:

  • Adolescent growth injuries and adult overuse injuries
  • Pelvic Floor and core weakness
  • Maternity related aches and pains
  • Sports and Spinal injuries
  • Post injury rehabiliation


Outside of work Rochelle enjoys social tennis, running, walking, paddle boarding and spending time with family and friends.

Emily Hunt, Physiotherapist

Physiotherapist

Emily graduated from University of Southampton in England in 2004 with honors. She has worked in acute hospitals in the UK and for the past 7 years Emily has been working in private practice in Australia. She has extensive post graduate training in manual therapy and holds the Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. She has a special interest in Pilates and has clocked up a considerable number of hours teaching classes.
Emily’s specialities include:

  • Sports rehabilitation especially runners and triathletes
  • Movement re-education
  • Pilates and specific exercise prescription
  • Spinal treatment especially mobilisation and manipulation of mid and lower back
  • Dry needling
  • Headache assessment and treatment


Outside of work Emily loves triathlon and completed the Taupo full Ironman in March 2017. She is a keen horse rider, loves trail running, mountain biking, snowboarding and tramping in the beautiful New Zealand countryside with her husband.
